The most commonly used method to carry out the installation of additional packages in Ubuntu is the apt-get. The working mechanism of apt-get is very easy to understand, you specify the software package to install and it searches for that particular software from the Internet and if found, apt-get downloads it to your machine and installs it. APTonCD is a graphical tool which allows you to create one or more CDs or DVDs of all the packages you’ve downloaded via apt-get and thus it creates a removable repository that you can use on other computers. The main advantage of APTonCD is that you don’t need to download packages again if you are doing a fresh installation of your system, you can restore the previously installed programs easily. Advanced Forum adds some functionality to the core forum module by itself but, to really emulate stand alone forum software, you need more modules.
