Pidgin - графический модульный клиент обмена сообщениями, основывающийся на библиотеке libpurple, позволяющей использовать AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, XMPP, ICQ, IRC, SILC, SIP/SIMPLE, Novell GroupWise, Lotus Sametime, Bonjour, Zephyr, MySpaceIM, Gadu-Gadu и QQ одновременно. Написан с использованием GTK+.
Может работать с несколькими из них одновременно, таким образом можно будет поддерживать контакт одновременно со всеми собеседниками. Pidgin поддерживает практически все свойства вышеперечисленных протоколов, а именно передачу файлов, систему статусов и предупреждения о печатании. Имеется также ряд интересных функций, например возможность предупреждения, проигрывания звука или запуск определенной программы. Позволяет расширять свои возможности при помощи дополнительных модулей, которые необходимо скачивать и подключать отдельно.
